Well I've moved house at last and almost in a state of being able to stop unpacking boxes and relax with a blog entry or two. I moved on December 21st, I'd not recommend moving that close to Christmas, especially as the evening before it began snowing and well as we all know, the snow hasn't really ended yet, 3 weeks and counting. Quite strange moving to a new house and feeling like never had a chance to go outside yet.
I did manage to get out on Christmas Day joining friends on the Cotswold edge for a picnic in a gamekeepers hut... and it was snowing. An unusual Christmas for me but I loved it.... even had a festive fire!
And so to bed as a flock of cirl buntings beckon tomorrow in Devon, weather permitting ........ more soon, I promise!
I thought I'd be the first to pop over to your blog to wish you a Happy New Year - hope you managed to get to Devon! Before I had a chance to reply on F-book will keep you posted as and when I'll next be in Bristol - I didn't make it during 2009 so am due a visit this year sometime - hope you're coping with all the snow around - ours is disappearing which I must admit is a shame - Have fun -Miranda
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you too :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pics and not as much snow as we are having at minus 20 degrees last week!

Hello! Great to read your blog post. Glad everything is going OK. Hope you caught the cirl buntings in Devon... we've got a flock of reed bunting on the heath at the bottom of my road (beautiful little birds). Hope to catch up in 2010! Jane
ReplyDeleteThank you Miranda, hope to see you in 2010. Wildlife Gardener I'll wander through the wicket gate soon, and Jane. Yes in Devon in one carpark, 7 Cirl buntings, 4 siberian chiffchaffs and a firecrest...loads of reed buntings too, I agree stunning birds, much overlooked, and 2 snipe overhead. A good day.
ReplyDeleteYep...still here too! Glad your move has happened and you're settling into your new home I presume. Trust you saw the birds!
ReplyDeleteThanks Goosey, yes the birds did come up trumps and the day was a double tick for me, Cirls and Siberian chiffchaff. I'm looking forward to getting back to blogging this year and catching up

Trust you are well and maybe blogging somewhere else now. I just wondered if you know what the thing I took a photo of on my blog is? As you work in the natural history area I thought you may know.It looks like an opened ended trap or some sort or a feeder. It looked easy to make so if it is I could make one....but it may not be any point in a suburban garden!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes, Goosey
